Reference

I want to make an illustration that is as close to what you imagine your character to be! You can make the odds of this happening higher by providing me with references. As a general rule, the more references you can give me, the better the final illustration will be. Think about images of faces, poses, props or costumes for your character.
Real life photos are better than images by other artists. I understand that the Luck Blade doesn’t exist in real life, but maybe you know a really cool sword that could be made into a Luck Blade.
Images from other artists can be useful to let me know the mood you want for your illustration. I can use the work of other artists as inspiration for your character, just keep in mind that there is less detail in there to use than real life photos.
Written text about your character's background, personality, hopes, dreams, past adventures and other aspects you deem important can also really help.If anything, at least something like a (readable) character sheet is a good starting point. Of course I can also make illustrations with only the description “big, strong, angry half-orc barbarian”, but then you will end up with a generic result that might not match your own expectation. If your character has things that you don’t know what they should look like: Don’t worry, I can still do my own research and figure it out! Some final notes on reference:
I know that I wrote that more is better, but please keep it related to what you want me to make. I don’t want to spend more time digging through documents and images than I spend painting. :)
Keep in mind that some images are copyrighted or are intellectual property. I can still use a copyrighted image as reference or inspiration. If an image belongs to an intellectual property, then things can get complicated.
